False Activation

A false activation occurs when an assistive or control system produces an action even though the user did not intend it. In a brain-computer interface, this could mean displaying a word or moving an avatar because background neural activity was mistaken for a command. Designers measure and reduce false activations because even high average accuracy can be frustrating or unsafe if unintended actions occur frequently.
