Liver fibrosis
Liver fibrosis is the accumulation of scar tissue after repeated or persistent liver injury. Early fibrosis may be partly reversible if the underlying cause is controlled, while advanced fibrosis can progress to cirrhosis, altered blood flow and liver failure. Fibrosis describes scarring; it is not identical to fatty liver, inflammation or cirrhosis.
