Bethe-Heitler Process
The Bethe-Heitler process converts a sufficiently energetic photon into a particle and its antiparticle in the electric field of an atomic nucleus. In laser-driven muon sources, photons created when accelerated electrons strike a dense converter can use this process to produce positive and negative muons.
